Let Your Scarf’s Fly

With winner here one of my favorite ways to stay warm is to wear a scarf. With so many different designs and colors, they make getting dressed some mornings easy. I just put on some jeans, a plain T and a scarf and I am ready to go. The best part is that with so many ways to wear them, you will never run out of options. So here is a step-by-step guide of some really cute ways.

Sweater Weather

As the weather in Socal remains to be unpredictable, you can warm yourself up with some sweater shorts, or you can put on a cooler outfit with a Winter feel. Since these sweater shorts come in a variety of prints, colors and different knits, it is easy to find one that would work perfectly with your style or the look you're trying to go for.
As you can see by these two pictures, there are tribal prints, geometric prints, bright colors, muted colors, multicolored, one color, knits with designs, plain knits, as well as countless other options. These shorts offer you the look and feel of Winter, but it also offers you the option of either layering with warmer pieces, or using it as your only winter piece for when it's slightly warmer outside in the Socal weather.
More often than not in the past month or so, the weather has been sunny and warm even though it is the middle of Winter. For those days, you can wear the sweater shorts with a simple tank and some boots for a little more warmth as shown above. Although this looks more like a Summer look, if you're absolutely in love with your new pair of sweater shorts, why wait until it's cold? Throw on a Summer worthy top with your sweater shorts to give it a Winter feeling.
When the weather starts to get a little cooler, but not cool enough to completely cover up, you can pair the sweater shorts with long sleeve tops, or add some long socks or tights to add a little warmth. When it starts to get even cooler, you can layer everything under the sweater shorts including tights and long socks. You can also make use of cute scarves, and tall boots to cover up a little more. Next up are a couple outfits you can try with various colors of sweater shorts.
For a bit of an edgy look with a big pop of color, try all black with gold sweater shorts, The long socks with the gladiator peep toe heels allows for a bit of an edgy feel.
For a little more of a romantic, whimsical feel, you could pair a darker shade of sweater shorts with a flowy top and some cute ballet flats and long socks.
Finally, for a more boho chic look, you could wear a bright colored pair of sweater shorts with a more neutral colored, loose, flowy top. To add that boho chic look, add some printed socks and slouchy brown boots.
Whether it's cold outside, or slightly breezy, you can make sweater shorts work to your advantage with layers of tights and long socks, rock the sweater shorts by themselves.

Hopelessly Hooked on Hats!

So, the nights are finally getting cold and people all over southern California are pulling their winter ware out of storage. I love the jackets, scarves, and mittens, but lately my obsession has been with hats! There are so many different kinds, almost some for every personality. Truthfully, I was never really a hat person until lately.  It may seem like fitting a hat into your wardrobe might be tricky, but it just takes a little practice. Most people choose not to wear hats because they only have one style in mind... and it's not theirs. But I'm here to tell you fall hopelessly in love with hats! There are a variety of styles I've been seeing out and about lately, especially as the weather cools.

The first category of hat I want to talk about are the everyday hats. When I get up in the morning and try on the first two or three versions of what I want to wear that day, I always notice that I certain something is missing. Now, I'm no stranger to accessorizing my outfits, so I usually go through a couple rounds of trying on jewelry as well. But recently, a friend lent me some hats to try out and I have to say, I’m so thankful. Here are a couple uses of hats in everyday outfits. I think that they are the perfect item to enhance your look.

As you can see, there are a variety of styles to choose from and each one helps tie together an outfit in a different way. If you find one that fits your personality, try and build your outfit around that piece. You may create something you didn’t even see in your wardrobe before.

Another category of hat is the winter hat. If the weather isn’t cool enough, these might give you a bad case of hat hair. They are functional in cold weather and give you that cozy feeling everyone needs every once in a while. Even winter hats have a wide variety of styles available for you to choose from.  Select something you feel comfortable in and don’t be afraid to try a more unconventional winter hat. Just because it’s functional, doesn’t mean it has to be unpleasant.

During my last trip into Urban Outfitters, I found a couple that I really liked. It took some strong convincing from my wallet, not to buy them right then and there. Maybe you can find your new favorite winter hat there.  Here is a look at some of my favorites:

Hats off to you ladies! Happy Winter!

Happy Holidays

With the holidays just around the corner it's time to ask yourself a very important question. What are you going to wear? Your boyfriend's family dinner, your best friends Christmas party and of course New Years Eve; all big events and you need to look your best. Here are some great looks that will have heads turning all night.

You can be classy at your boyfriends and still show off your curves. Just beacause you are covered up, doesn't mean you have to hide your body.

Be chic for your best friends party. The runway is the best place to get inspiration. If you see it here you can find something like it somewhere.

And super sexy to bring in the New Year

Better with Burgundy.

As seasons change, some colors are seen more often than others. As of late, the color Burgundy has been making an appearance in the form of various articles of clothing and accessories. This color compliments nearly every skin tone so it will be easily for the majority of us to wear, whether we still have our sun-kissed skin from the Summer, or a lighter shade as we're moving into Fall and Winter. The perfect thing about Burgundy, is that it works well as a color not only for tops, but for pants, skirts, scarves and purses as well. If you want to rock the Burgundy, but feel like it's too bold of a color, you can add touches of this color with the use of accessories. Below are examples of gloves, a clutch, purse as well as a variety of other accessories in Burgundy.

If you're feeling like you want a bigger "pop" of color, you can stand out with a pair of Burgundy pants paired with a cute sweater or a flowy top, finished off with a cute pair of heels or a simple pair of boots
. There are also various types of skirts including maxi and high-low skirts. You can also pair some Burgundy tights with a cute dress, or a long fitted top. You can also find various types of Burgundy tops including sweaters, tank tops, flowy tops, fitted tops, and even Christmas themed tops to get in the mood for the season! And of course if you're feeling really confident and bold, you can throw on a dress in solid Burgundy.

The color Burgundy is the perfect color to dress with lighter colors like creams and whites or with darker colors like dark grays and blacks. You can even dress it up with brighter colors as well!
